I have a JnJ Trains B&O I12 caboose kit that I picked up from ebay a few years ago. I've been afraid to try and build it out of fear of ruining it and never seeing another, but I've decided it'll be my next project once I finish the Bachmann 0-4-0 re-build. The problem I'm having is the paint colors. http://pennsyrr.com/index.php/other/523-baltimore-and-ohio-railroad Above is a nice explanation I found about when paint changed, size of the letters, the herald, and color, but it doesn't say what colors were used in particular the shade of green on the doors and window trim. If someone could tell me what paint brand/colors (all 4 colors would be especially nice) to use I would be thankful. I work with mostly Polly Scale water-based and a single action airbrush if that's helpful. EDIT: almost forgot... what trucks and what size wheels? I have to look more into this, but you may save me the trouble. Check out my thread in the n-scale section of this forum about re-motoring and detailing a Bachmann 0-4-0. I'm quite proud of it so far as my first leap into n-scale modeling. You may even be surprised at what a new motor has done for this little guy!
From another forum, suggested color to match Devil red was Soo Line red - with the note that the color will vary somewhat depending upon whether you use a gray or white primer/undercoat. Also, Vermont green for the doors and windows. For the blue cars, B&O Royal blue was recommended.
As for trucks, you could use the B&O caboose trucks (FVM 49002) from Fox Valley: http://www.foxvalleymodels.com/NParts.html
LMAO! Well that was easy... I didn't even think to see if FVM sold their trucks separately. Thanks again!!
