I just ran by the yard and sitting between foothills blvd and the engine shop is BN 4057. Its sitting all alone if it wasn't 10pm I would of took a picture. Hopefully it'll be there in the am. Anyone know where this unit is going? I thought all of these have been retired so I'm thinking this one has been sold off.

    Duane,
In a related post about B30s, it was mentioned that GE was rebuilding a few with cabs for sale to Saudi Arabia. Perhaps the one you were seeing was being shipped that way (in a roundabout route). Only other option is that it was going somewhere else for parts (Mexico, maybe? Or a regional?)
    My guess........

I was the one who posted the news about them going to Saudi Arabia, that was what I was told by an EMD employee. How 4057 got to CA is news to me.

That's right, you were- sorry I forgot your name.
I'd like to know more about the "Arab" Dash 7s......

Just FYI. There are 15 B30-7As now sitting just west of Roseville. They are in the yard of ex McClellan AFB in North Highlands. Public access is available at the Winters exit off I80. BN 4000 is among them. I got pics of all but won't have them developed for some time, sorry :(

Another update. Someone from Yolo Shortline (who now operates the ex AFB trackage and shop) said that we are to expect a total of 42 of these units to show up. Then they will be sent to Jamestown on the Sierra RR for conversion into power generators.
Perhaps to ease our power outages here in CA.

Five more of these just showed up either last night or this morning. We now have 20 which is just under half the total expected. :D

Just to keep you updated, there are now 40 B30-7As sitting in McClellan Park now. All still wear full BN markings. Some have the exhaust stacks covered by tarps. I climbed around on a few today  Later...
