Well, I'm thinking about one of these. Although I'm a bigger fan of the Climax style lokey... Anyhow, can anyone give me a list of their releases, which had the following: Shotgun stack, steel cab. If any came with an oil headlight, I'd prefer the later style electric style. Preferably an all black undec? Then I can watch sale ads, and see what I might be able to budget.

    :D

YES!!! I knew you would eventually buy one! Can't be of much help I am afraid...I went with a Climax. I do know that I have heard nothing but great reviews of the Shay and watching the Bay you can get a good deal if you watch closely. Keep us updated :D

Hopefully, I can learn a couple of appropriate catalog numbers. So I am certain of getting what I seek.

cheapeest place for a bachmann spectrum shay is ebay store favorite spot, the Shay's are going for much cheaper than the climax. a shay for about $67.00

for a Soundtraxx Tsunami sound & DCC Shay lowest price I have seen is $199 from an online store.

Well, not to make you sick but it came in a box of On30 stuff I bought for 100 bucks from a guy who was getting out of the hobby and just wanted a good home for the stuff. Averaged out with all the stuff in the box, the Climax cost me 15 bucks :D

I actually did look at the B-Mann site. But they only showed five models on that page I'd found. Which seemed to be a rather truncated list.

I think the five (first grouping via the link) and then near the end of the whole list of On30 steam are the shay's with sound.
I think those are the only undecorated ones are the ones with DCC & Tsunami sound.
and I think that is all the variations ever made of the On30 Shay, unless someone modded one, using a kit or otherwise.

Well, I've bookmarked a couple of auction offerings. If you never hear from me again, you'll know I bid, and won. And what my wife did to me! Ha ha.

As far as the wifey making comments about buying new equipemnt for the railroad.
Good to hear I'm not alone :tb-cool:

Here are some things to remember:

They can't help it. they have FFLF:

    FFLF (Female Fun Limitation Factor)
When a woman asks "Do you really think you should be doing that?"

But then you know there will always be this:

    Three Prices You Pay Syndrome
1 - The price you paid for the item.
2 - The price you tell her you paid for the item.
3 - The price you pay when she finds out the price you paid.

And when buying new items for the railroad, always try to use teh 48 hour rule. but be sure to be fair and follow the rules closely:

The 48-Hour Rule or “You Had Your Chance"
This rule was established on March 5, 2002 and is as follows: As a reward for a fellow sneaking new and inexpensive cylinders into the Crisis Center and also escaping any female wrath that might accrue from said purchase, the fellow may make up any story he wishes after 48 hours regarding the acquisition. In other words, she gets 48 hours to notice the purchase and complain. If she misses her window, you are home free.
“This old thing,’’ you might say, when, after a week, she finally does notice, “that thing has been here since July.’’

and after all, she is just doing her job as "the C.P":

    C.P. (Chief Procurer)
Wife, individual who is in charge of supplies at home

if her flak gets too much, just head out to the crissis center:

    Crisis Center
All Good GLers consider this the garage!

These are from one of my favorite Radio programs: Garage Logic

if you liked that, you might want to listen to the show. where "You learn my by accident then by design"
and any problem worth solving, can be solved in the garage.
"GL" or Garage Logic is all about common sense solutions to lifes mysteries and having fun.
usually a little more serious from 2-4, then from 4-5:30pm it is more fun.
weekdays 2-5:30 centrail time on am1500.
if you can't get it via the am dial, then you can listen online: http://www.am1500.com/listen.shtml

    or download the podcast:

more about "the Mayor" and Garage Logic
    http://www.am1500.com/gl/index.shtml

they station is not the typical right wing AM. no hannity or rush. and the hosts range from all over the left, middle and right. not all politics, etc. more entertainment.
Michke is more left of Garage logic but also interesting, a little more out there, but a good show as well. he is on noon to 2pm.

The Mayor's invitation to Garage Logic.
On behalf of the citizens of Garage Logic, Minnesota (we're the fastest growing city in Minnesota), I'd like to invite you to visit us. Hi. I'm Joe Soucheray, Mayor of Garage Logic. Actually, the only mayor G.L. has ever had (although that rapscallion, Patrick Reusse made an unsuccessful bid to unseat me in the last election).

Garage Logic is the seat of Gumption County, down the road from Diversityville, but not as far as Liberal Lakes. It's a place where common sense prevails, the 2-car garage is revered and cigar smoking is allowed (and lawyers aren't).

When you visit G.L., you'll be greeted with the melodic harmonies of power tools at work and the sweet, aromatic blend of cigars and motor oil. For recreation, you can tee it up on Creature Path(TM) golf course, go fishing in Spoon Lake, or catch a Fighting Stogies game at the University of Garage Logic (where you can also enroll in a course on personal responsibility).

I could go on and on, but a new shipment of Titanium Moly Bolts just came in at The Knack hardware store and I gotta run over and check 'em out. Stop by for a visit. If the guiding principles of Garage Logic appeal to you - and they will - you may want to tie the lawn mower on the back of your Harley and take up permanent residence.

    Welcome Garage Logicians

I'm about 1250 miles away, so would need to try checking in via web streaming. Sounds like there's plenty of stuff we could relate to model railroading.
