i took these pics sometime in 95 or 96. anyway I was going through some old stuff and found these and thought they were kind of cool. I was in the 7th grade or so when i took these.

down in steilacoom washington, can anyone guess what they were dropping off? At this time the bn used this depot as a maintence office/storage, so there wasn't always someone staffed there. What is it they would need? take some guess and after this sits for a while i'll tell ya!

Well, there's rail on back so the boxes could be various perway gear like track pins and rail clips. Or it could be new equipment, spares and batteries for the signals department?

Bags? Hmmm. Let's see. Spikes, and other jewelry usually comes in a five gallon sized can, or larger. Plugs come in bundles. If those are rails on back, they're mighty short ones.

??? Good question. Nothing comes into mind right now. The truck is stencilled "Alliance, NE." So they shipped this stuff from a logistics center back east.

I will guess that these were supplies used in rebuilding the Stampede Pass line.

ok so it actually was bags of water. it wasn't even bottled and i thought that was odd.

I agree, i think this truck would make an excellent model.

Stielacom is a great photo location! You have Puget Sound to the west, a wooded hill with neat houses to the east, the tracks approach along the shore in a broad curve from the north, and following the shore south across a short bridge. All this with a very picturesque depot too.

There's also some interesting bridging just a bit to the north of town. Good photo op there.
