Pictured below (on a rainy day) is NREX 5475, a former NS high hood unit, that apparently "went Canadian" and is now a rent-a-wreck:

I say, "went Canadian" due to the single headlight on the low hood, plus I vaguely remember that NS sold a block of their SD40-2's to CP(?)

Hmmm, all I would need is an undecorated shell and some decals and I could reproduce that paint scheme! ;)

Are these taken with the new lens?

Yes, it appeared to be a giant undecorated unit that had some hastily applied decals. [IMG]

Yes, all of my recent photos have been taken with the new lens (17-85 IS USM). It has been rainy and /or overcast for my past few outings, so the new lens really helped out!

How do you like that 17-85 IS USM? I've been considering getting one, but it only goes down to f4, not F3.5 like the standard lens. Does the IS really compensate for this half-stop loss?

I love the 17-85 :D I have gotten over the extra weight and heft of the lens (it is considerably larger and weighs 10 ounces more than the standard lens.) Yes, you lose a half-stop, but the IS has enabled me to take a lot of pictures in situations (rain, darkness) that were previously not an option. Also, the 17-85 focuses a lot faster and more accurately than the standard one did. Plus, I think the optics are much, much better on the 17-85 and it has a metal mount. I can see a definate difference in the picture quality. Also, having a 5x range instead of a 3x comes in handy too. I highly recommend it!

Cool. Ever been able to use an L lens? You'll fall in love instantly with the optics.

Yes, I used to shoot with "L" lens a loooong time ago (before I went to EOS). I agree that the optics are impeccable, however, I find myself shooting a lot less than I used to due to changed priorities. If you are really into photography and can afford it, they are definately worth the difference.

    That's the kicker... affording it.

Canon announced a new L lens last month (with their other new products) : EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

I bet that is going to be really nice :(
