I purchased a new Bachmann 2-6-0 loco a few months ago. My first dcc loco. Loco has run fine until recently. It seems to run very balky and does not seem to have a lot of power either, slows, starts almost stalls in a lot of places. I use a NCE powercab with the 3 amp booster. I do not have a lot of experience yet with dcc. I removed the dcc power and connected my dc power pack to the layout and the loco runs fine. I cleaned the track and the loco wheels but it still seems to run in balky spurts in dcc. Any help would be great.

    Also for a second question.

My turnouts are atlas code 55 and I use the Tortoise switch machines. These are wired through a switch 8 dcc decoder and controled with my dcc powercab. If I run the loco's using a dc power pack is it possible to still use the dcc powercab to run the turnout switches?
