While not a cat person...its so sad the hear of anyones 'pet' dieing. I can relate and feel the pain.
I have been here, I just have not commented much lately. I have been so busy that it's been hard to even read let alone comment. Here in another week or so it will be that way again. Hopefully after I get my truck's drivetrain all fixed I can play with my trains again!
Sorry bout the kitty, Rick. Having two currently, and having had cats most of my life, they do get their little 'hooks' in ya. Hard to loose them, no matter the cause.
Thanks guys for the kind words. Yes, these feline buddies can get their hooks into you literally. Straight to the heart. Things are getting back to whatever normal is. Never sure around this house.
There was a train from a far away place a long, long time ago. Kato put out a train, I couldn't resist. Here it is parked at the Rio Bendejo Train Station. Actually Williams Train Station, but the sign and painting contractors haven't shown up, yet! Can't get anything done in a timely manner, I asked self? I need to find the proper lettering first. Anyway, I thought you might enjoy seeing this Chieftain of the Rails. Above: A set of ABA PA's. about to back down the tracks and hook onto it's Santa Fe Chief passenger train. No!! I didn't stutter I said that correctly. Note the Chipewa Chief is about to depart for Los Angeles, Ca. Or someplace like that. Above: Once tied on and the air set it was time to board the passengers. Lucky the people who actually got to ride such a train in real life. Above: Left to right a Sleeper and the infamous Observation car. This one has small roomettes and a open bar for those adult passions. Above: Mom, mom can I ride in the dome car? Here the Dome Vista is followed by a Sleeper. In true Santa Fe Chief style. Above: Once the conductor waved the highball the engineer gets the train underway. Finally, I have a Santa Fe passenger train that is as close to the prototype, as I'm going to get. Yes!! You might note the two sections of the M.O.W work train in the background. Occupying tracks in the Coal District. Me thinks the ground crews forgot to put in the scenery. Do you think? My apologies for the bad pictures. This were taken with a Kodak Digital Camera. Ate up batteries like you wouldn't believe. I expected more or better from that camera. Not quite what I was hoping for. My best shots and you've seen some of them. They are taken with a Fuji Camera, given to me by a former Santa Fe Rail. He worked for the Engineering Department. Interesting story here but for another time and place. Stand by for more. Enjoy this weekend. Later.
I don't know. It's either the early EMD E units or the Alco PA's that were the most elegant diesels of all time. Doug
Either the PA's or the DL109's for elegant diesels. The early E's are nice too, but third in my li'l head.
Alco PA's, FT's, F3's, F7's, Erie Builts, E6's, E7's, E8's, E9's and those forlorn looking DL109's. Who wouldn't like a three unit lash-up of each one. As to my favorite, I think you know where I'm going to side in on. I'll vote for the Alco PA's. For sure the most elegant of Santa Fe's Head End Power. Oh I love the F types and the E's. Next in line to the Alco's PA's would be the E6's. They had an unusual streamline nose and headlight. Then there was the Erie Builts. Not as pretty but had plenty of personality. Kind of rugged pullers. They got the job done. I don't know what it is about the DL109's. They always grab my eye and turn my head. I can't figure out if they are pretty or ugly. Forlorn comes to mind. I often wondered if that was a design or engineering flaw. Seems to me there was some engineering problems and they didn't last very long. Like the Ugly Mutt in a pack of dog's that is the most fun to play with. Breakfast time around here. The four pawed feline critters are back playing with each other. Running from one end of the house to the other. Making new friends, I noticed. Nothing but fun and love around here. Keeps an old man on his toe's. I want to get back to work on the layout. I need to clean up the train room, clean out the kitty boxes. Outside I want to pack away the Canopy. If I want to put it back up again I'll need to order parts. Not sure I want to go to all that trouble again. Almost done with the outside work. Wood cutting, leg's built and curves cut. I may need to do more of that when I put the top deck back on. Thinking I need to get some Energy Drinks. As long as they don't mess with my heart's arrhythmia. I finally got my Covid 19 Vaccine. No, stutter, no, stutter again, side effe stutter affe stutter affects. Never did that before. Hummm? Staying masked up for now. We don't know enough about this disease to know when it's safe not to. Tip of the day. If you are wanting one (not not another train car) a vaccine, check into your local WalMart's Pharmacy. I found them on the internet and it didn't take long for me to get signed in and an appointment. I got the Pfizer vaccine. Seriously, no side affects out of the normal pain from the shot. I'd encourage everyone to get a vaccine. Better then the alternative. I'm not ready to push up a new patch of grass or those infamous daisies. Later!
That is the toughest part about pets in general. I am not a cat person strictly because I am allergic to them. But I am/was a dog person. I had Siberian Huskies and they were all characters, one of the was Nicknamed Captain Neurotic because of his zany attitude. And I know this in not about dogs, just saying the emotions are the same for all pets. Especially the ones we interact with on a daily basis. Sad to see this Rick, both Angel and Captain Neurotic are both in the same place now. Wouldn't it be cool if they were friends!
Right on David, right on. With pets, tough it is. I'd rather take a chance of loving them then to have missed out on loving them at all. Well, I've never been to the other side. So, it's hard for me to know what's beyond. I do believe they will never feel fear and find everything there better then they had it here. They are the lucky ones. Well, thanks David for your thoughts. As always greatly appreciated. Do hope this finds you doing well. Me not so much but I'm determined and I haven't let much stop me from doing the things I want to do. I'll get this layout operating again. Then begins the fun stuff. I'll get to add scenery. Later!!
Well I am starting on a new adventure with DCC and LCC combined. Also making sure everything I have will be able to use RailCom so I know where each train is and how fast it is running.. Looking at having automated trains running as scenic elements while I dodge fast passenger trains by jumping into a siding and then continuing on my freight assignments.....
I meant to respond to this earlier. Wait until our two pets compare notes. No, your daddy knew BarstowRick. Yeah, he was my Daddy. What do you want to go and tear up now? As to your layout, Lucky you!!! Your layout is on my bucket list of things I want to see.
Looking back at my pride and joy. The Chief. Did anyone notice the two tone grey Santa Fe Sleepers? I was never so delighted with Kato, when I found a two car set of these. Awesome and a shout out of Thanks to Kato!! No question, I dig on passenger trains. It may have something to do with the hours spent watching passenger trains arriving and departing Barstow, Ca. All through the eyes of a child. Just wish I could remember it with the interest in details and how various consists of passenger trains was made up. You know with the eyes of an adult. Aw, never mind I'd probably be disappointed...for some reason or another. You know or maybe you don't... the adult thing. Critical, criticize, critique if you get my drift. I wonder what impact on my layout if I named this station Waterman? Waterman Junction. Humm? What you think?
Hope this cheers everyone up a bit. The newest member of my family was born on March 17th she is going to be a tortoise shell colored little cutie. We have not decided on a name for her yet but my daughter is working on a list. This one is the runt of her litter and mom’s favorite. She is about 1/2 the size of her brothers and sisters but she has no problem pushing the others out of the way to get food. Here is a pic of Mom and all kittens 5 in total. The oranges are split 2m and 2f. Just a bit of history on the Mom. She was a feral cat just 3 years ago. My friend (who’s hands are holding the kitten) kept talking to her, and offering her scraps of chicken to eat. It took almost a year before she would let him pet her but he kept on working with her. Meow Meow is her name, she is vocal and now she will come inside and let a few people pick her up and pet her. I met her for the first time a few months ago before she got preggers. She had eaten a mouse or rat that had eaten poison, and was very sick herself. I suggested to my friend that he get some activated charcoal and dissolve it in some water and feed it to her. He did, and a few days later she was almost her old self again. She went from almost dead to the very healthy and happy momma you see here.
My word Massey,!! Don't you be stealing my story. Never mind that's anyone's and everyone's story who loves momma cat's and their off spring. Nice litter of kittens. A good variety of pretty little ones. These will turn out to be as pretty as the momma. Nice and thanks for sharing.
