    Hi Guys,
I'm new to O Scale, and have just gotten into On30. I was working on a plan for a little layout, and was getting ready to design a building when I realized I really know nothing about the scale. N Scale didn't quite cut it xD.
    So, what equals what?
What's the average height for doorways, windows, people, etc? Also, if anyone knows anything about On30, what will I be looking at for clearances and such? I found that minimum clearances for my small layout will be about 3 1/4" for my tunnels (Just enough for my caboose to squeeze through).

    Thanks,

    Alex

As far as structures and accessories go the scale is 1:48 i.e. American "O" scale. For the rest try this site, pretty good general info.

1/4 inch equals 1 foot. The tracks maybe be HO but the models are O scale. My Bachmann caboose is 2" wide by 3" high for a scale 8' by 12'. The 2-6-0 is about the same dimensions. Your track centers for passing sidings should be 2 1/2" to 3" center to center. While it is narrow gauge, the buildings are full O scale and eat up a lot of real-estate. Hope this helps in answering your questions. The link Hans-Joerg gave you is a good one; one I've used many times myself.
