This is going to sound like an odd question, and I really hope I haven't lost my mind but...
I was watching the Korean news this morning and there was a segment about trains and was that a BC Rail U Boat I saw? The rear looked like a U25B and the paint looked right and I swear I saw "Rail" on the end of the short hood. Am I loosing it?

Hmmmm. I suppose it could have been. We might need a list of unit dispositions.

Are there any Korean railfan type web sites to explore for more info?

I can see why it caught your eye, at first glance.

The story (it was in Korean, which I don't speak), looked like it was about hauling cement, train vs. trucks. There was this brief shot of a train in red, white and blue. I wish I could see it again.

Next time my parents go to Korea I'll have dad get more pics for me...and him...

I haven't been there since 1995...and rumors say I can't get stationed there until I'm atleast 28 being I'm a male born in Korea.

That's an EMD. Their export units look quite different from domestic models.

BC Rail never had U25Bs; you might be thinking of their C420s.

I know some used North American locomotives went to South Korea once - C&O 2-8-0s, during the Korean War.

I watched the same news program this morning. I guess there's a rail strike in Korea. No new shots of what I saw yesterday. Interesting single platform container flatcars, though.
The reason I leaped to the "U25B" idea was the shot I saw of the rear of a unit. It had the same type of flat hood end with protruding number boards and headlight. Jumping to conclusions...it's the only exercise I ever get!
Of course the idea of BC Rail locos in Korea isn't to far fetched. Western Pacific F7s made it to Australia.

Well Korean Rail did get SD9s and SDP38s. The SD9s look just like the ones in the states. And the SDP38 looks like an SDP40, just with 2 radiator fans as its an SD38 and not an SD40

Those are some cool photos. Thanks! It has to odd to go to a foreign contry and see a loco that could be right around the corner!
I notice that few have MU hoses. I'm guessing the trains are light.

I read something about that. I would put it at about 60% sure that it is accurate. If you were to go over before 28, if you were to go off base and stopped by the ROK SPs at the gate, you could be conscripted into their army. I think I saw something talking about this when I was over there in 05-06. It's a matter of time before you end up over there... We all have to at least once. lol.

In a nutshell...if one has Korean citizenship, or is on the rolls of the Korean government, he can be conscripted up until 35.

You mean Al Dhafra? If so, been there, done that. Decent enough place, but the Emirates are a bit more strict than you would find at the Died. When I was there in '06, the only internet access was through the base. No wifi or cyber cafe like at other places in the region. Dubai was definately an interesting place to visit. My trip was a little different though, we stayed off base and wore bdu's and had a lot more in the way of privledges than the on base guys did...
