Bellefontaine High Tower....the original Roger: Several of the pictures of BELLEFONTAINE and enviorns are ones sent to me by BRUCE WARNER, the real GURU of T&OC history. Latest batch of steam loco's came from hin, also the T&OC depot picture. Thnx for posting for everyone to see. regds Larry Baggerly
Roger, do you know when that was taken? Looks to be 20's or so. Do you think you could convince Baggerly to join here? He kept the Yahoo New York Central forum going for a long time and we could use some new contributors here. I know Larry has a lot of history to share with us. :tb-biggrin:
I said, "Man, what... ... a hat". I mentioned it to my wife and she said, "That's a Tom Mix hat and he's probably a little boy. Who else would be standing out there watching trains? That kid went to the movies every Saturday to see the Tom Mix serials. He was a huge hero". Ya know, I think my darling is right and I'm buying it even if she's not. Mark
Well, I'd not be surprised if she's correct. That sure helps date the photo. Myself, I'm a big fan of slightly later days- Gene Autry, Hoppy, and Sunset Carson... Boxcab E50
Roger, that's good news. If we could get Larry and LEW exchanging stories of the old days on the road, it would be great. :tb-biggrin:
BN HIGH TOWER This "HIGH TOWER" controls ingress/egress to/from the B/4, T&OC, and St.MARYS BRANCH. To the left of the picture you'd be headed to GEST YARD of the T&OC, and to the right, you'd be headed to KENTON . Directly WEST to INDPLS, and EAST to BELLEFONTAIN YARD and ENGINEHSE. [ not the two missing track bolts in the 6 HOLE BARS in the foreground. PEDRO, the SOMBRERO best get his track wrench and stop watchin passin trains] LARRY BAGGERLY
Larry, welcome to Trainboard, and especially to the New York Central fallen flag forum. I always enjoyed your contributions to New York Central forums elsewhere on the net and hope to see some of your history reported here. :tb-biggrin:
