I seem to remember photos of PA's in black paint. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate them. I have several undec PA's and thought that it would be a different scheme to have. Anyone know where I might be able to locate the Pics. I am also looking for a large (at least 4"x4") image of the older DRGW herald with the Curicanti Needle. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Richard Barter
There are frequently black painted Proto 2000 PA's (HO) on Ebay. This was the least popular paint scheme and so they are very often for sale there. The black PA's only pulled the California Zephyr for less than a year probably as they were quickly repainted after the birth of the train into silver/orange. That lasted 3 years and the PA's were again repainted to yellow/silver 4-stripe. Here is a link to a photo of them in black: http://ncespee.railfan.net/drgwpa1/drgw6001.html
This was the as-delivered scheme, before repainting into Aspen Leaf scheme for CZ service. http://photoswest.org:8080/cgi-bin/cw_cgi?resultsScreen+20359+1+9+0 As for the logo, the best I can help with is this: http://www.drgw.org/reference/heralds/heralds.htm May be able to blow it up, and redraw it in vector format....
