From the Railspot group at Yahoo, this bit of interesting news: NETEX Rail District / Blacklands RR News This afternoon at the meeting of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Texas Rural Rail Transportation District (NETEX), the operating contract between the rail district and Blacklands Railroad (BLR) was extended ten years. BLR has served as the operator for the trackage owned by NETEX for over a decade. This new long-term agreement will allow BLR to continue to build on their momentum serving the communities on the former Cotton Belt C-Branch corridor in Northeast Texas. Blacklands operates the NETEX-owned trackage from the Titus-Franklin line west of Winfield to the end of track at MP 555 west of Greenville. In addition, BLR leases UP-owned trackage from the Titus-Franklin County line east to the western edge of Mt. Pleasant, with trackage rights into Mt. Pleasant for interchange with UP. BLR interchanges with KCS at Sulphur Springs and Greenville, and DGNO at Greenville. A few months ago BLR began rail service on the "Henderson Overton Branch" (or HOB) in conjunction with the Rusk County Rural Rail District. More information about NETEX can be found at www.netexrail.org and Blacklands' website is www.blacklandsrailroad.com
Is there a full system map somewhere on the 'Net? Can't really get a feel for it's size and scope as presented. Boxcab E50
