I would like to start adding in more operating block searchlight signals. I have a "Signal Animator" from Logic Rail that operates one tri-colored signal from S.E. by using a photocell for activation. This works great [IMG]! The only thing is I have a large layout in the works and, if I want more signals, should probably consider a fully prototypical, multi-block signal system (more cost effective in the end). I know Logic Rail offers these too. What are you all using and how complicated did you find it to install? Keep in mind, I run standard cab control (no DCC).

    Thanks!

Russ, Logic Rail's SignalMaster is the way to go. You can control 8 signal blocks at a time, and it operates on current sensing. Since you are using a tri-color signal, that's all you need. They work with both DC and DCC (We're using DCC).

Their manual is online at their site, so you might want to go check it out.

There is a good 2-part article on multiblock, multi-color searchlight signalling in the March and April issues of Model Railroader. The circuits are based on bi-polar LED's. NOTE - the author corrected mis-labeled resistor values in the May MR Mailbag.
