I saw a post on Altamont Press today stating that AT&SF 3751 would attend the 2011 Trainfest to be held in July in the midwest quad cities. I laughed. Then I checked the San Bernardino Railway Historical Society website, and guess what? It's true. 3751 will run across the country next summer, just as SP 4449 did last year, and the Trainfest is getting more and more interesting. Luxury passenger car tickets are already for sale, and this will be a great opportunity for railfans who have never seen or experienced the 3751, a great restoration, in action. I'm sure it will be the "foaming" event of 2011. My old photo is from Raildays in 1995.
3751 is the cause of my return to railfanning after years of absence. My wife had purchased tickets for us to ride behind 3751 (I don't know how she found out about it) to Railfair 91 in Sacramento. 3751 wasn't ready, but we went to the Railfair anyway and there were 30 steam locomotives there. I was hooked again. Then in December the 3751 group honored those tickets and we got to ride over the Tehachapi loop behind 3751. Fantastic. I have been a steam fanatic ever since. :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
3751 isnt going now. I know it made me mad cause I used to live in the Quad Cities.I was going to go down and see her. But there will be others there, just not 3751.
