OK, I decided to start a post about this.
First of all I need the units with the extended range dynamis, it looks like you could use parts from a a bachman or kato shell to make the box for it. Second, is the high hood undec gonna come with the right trucks? And third, you wont have to worry about the anticlimber, they dont have one! I can't wait to get started on this project, My BN really needs a couple of these. This is gonna be my first kitbash and I'm hopping it will not be to complicated, it seems pretty strait forward.

The high-hood version will have the correct FB-2 (Floating Bolster) trucks. The walkway sill is wrong and will need to be substituted with the button latch walkway. The nice touch is it's sans anti-climber so the thin anti-climber version will be the easiest to remove this from.
The extended dynamic box wouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Fiddly, yes. I'd scratch-build the vent on the
left side using Evergreen's .030" spaced clapboard siding (.020" thick) and .010 strip for the surround. This would give a good representation after painting and weathering. The alternative is to do them from totally from strip styrene - that way you could have the open look! [IMG]
The grills on the right side could be scavenged from a second body as they are similar to the radiator grills, only a little shorter. Cut and shut job then sanding down the back.
The rest of the box is simple enough. Note there is a grill on top of the box's right side. Scribing styrene or laminating something like very fine filter mesh (the brass stuff used in those ancient fuel metering devices... carbruettors, that's it) would work here.

For those interested in the non-extended dynamic units 4000-4052, here's a top view - http://archive.trainpix.com/BN/GE/B30-7A/4041.HTM

I agree with you in this being fairly straight forward. A very good representation of the BN units can be had with little stress. [IMG]
