Here is a photo of BNSF 6379 I took back on 8-6-05. http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=116100 I post this as I recently read this SD40-2 is now in Chile. Kind of a long ways from Seattle where I photographed it last! Photo in Chile showed it was still in BN paint too. I understand other BNSF SD40-2's went with it but I don't know which ones. I also read they went to the same railroad that picked up the 9 former Milwaukee Road SDL39's. Brian Ambrose Renton, WA
Old SD40-2's never die, they just go to work for new railroads in other countries! Here's 6380 in 2004, but no 6379...
I have learned that two other ex-BN SD40-2's are now in Chile, the 6385 and 6922. Interesting that two units from the 2/74 order of BN 6376-6385 made the trip. In fact after a bit more research I came up with this status of the entire order: BN 6376 Wrecked Broomfield, CO 8/85 and scrapped BN 6377 Wrecked on Bozeman Pass 10/87, now MRL 250 BN 6378 Wrecked Trinidad, CO 7-4-81 but rebuilt, now BNSF 1826 in H1 BN 6379 to BNSF 6379, retired and now in Chile (BN green with stripes) BN 6380 to BNSF 6380 in BN whiteface scheme BN 6381 to BNSF 6381 in BN green with stripes BN 6382 to BNSF 6382 to BNSF 1830 in BN green with stripes BN 6383 to BNSF 6383 in BN whiteface scheme BN 6384 to BNSF 6384 to BNSF 1832 in BN green with stripes BN 6385 to BNSF 6385, retired and now in Chile (BN green with stripes) If anyone has any updates to this list I hope they will add them.
