Does BNSF still run trains with these very small 70t. Mineral Ore cars? If no when did BN / BNSF stopped running them? I have a N scale model train with 40 of these cars and like to know what kind of loco could pull this train... Seb
Well, F-units and SD7/9's in the 50's & 60's, SD40/45's in the 70/80's, and SD70MACs in the 90's. That's just a guess. I have no idea what power BN assigned to Mesabi range ore trains. GN used SD7/9's and F's however.
They are still running them into St.Louis.Usually 70Macs, SD75M/I's and 60M's for power.But I have seen GP60/60M's and SD40/40-2's also.Any modern power will be OK to model them.
