Wonder if you could help me with a little project. I have a half-baked idea to stuff some electronics into a scale model boxcar, making it into a display model of sorts... before I get started, I need to know a few things... 1) What would the expected internal dimensions of a G-scale 40 or 50 foot standard boxcar, from a reasonably priced and reasonably prototype-accurate line, be? And how hard are they to disassemble to install things inside of? 2) What would be a minimal expected price for a used but decent condition, non-collectors-item but again reasonably prototype-accurate boxcar be? What about new, but budget-minded? Are there kits? What brands would be good ones to look at? Places to buy? (Here? Ebay? Somewhere else?) I apologize for my unfamiliarity with the scale and the market. I'm normally an N/HO guy, and the larger scales are interesting but foreign to me.
