    Howdy Fellers!
I was drooling over the latest HO brass goodies at an online brass dealer, when I spied a loco I've been wanting, (but couldn't afford  ). I saw that the manufacturer of this engine is a company called "trains". The engine in question is a UP TR6 cow & calf set, (similar to a SW7/9), they are painted and used, but at a reasonable price, (which is weird for brass  ). So anyway, does anyone have brass made by this company? Is it worth the investment? I don't expect the quality to be like an Overland, and I know you get what you pay for when buying brass. I would like to know if it's a model I can do something with other than put it on the shelf!

    Hi 2slim,
I don't know of the Co. called Trains, send us the URL so we can look at it. Re: Brass prices. Since my layout is strictly steam, and the detailing in plastic is pretty thin, except for the Proto 2000 stuff, I'm always on the lookout. You know you always need another engine. anyway back to brass prices, I've seen some quite reasonable and even for engines I like. A suggestion; pay by credit card, you can always return it and if the company doesn't give you credit write your CC company and refuse the charge. Save copies of all your corrispondence with the company and include it in your letter. the CC companies are pretty good about taking your side.

Hey 2slim, what wa the out come on the TR6 cow & calf? Did you get the high bid for it? How did it run, or did you have to do repairs? Tell us about it. Is it one you are selling?

The company is actually called Trains Incorporated Distributiors (TID), or was as they have been out of business for quite some time. I have a brass RS1325 (anyone besides me know what that is?) that I got for under $150 at a show. It ran like you'd expect older brass to, no flywheels and one truck powered by the motor and the other by a shaft from the first. I had the motor on mine replaces with a modern can motor by a local brass expert and it now runs ok. THere is too much internal resistance in the gearing for the flywheels to do much good, and it's still louder than I'd like, but passable for brass. I got it because I knew what it was and that there were only 2 prototype RS1325s built, both for the Chicago and Illinois Midland. If someone really wants I'd probably part with it as I model the Spokane, Portland and Seattle and have no real use for it, except as an expensive conversation piece.

Assuming it's HO & runs okay, what sort of $ would you be after for the RS1325, I'm kinda fond of the C&IM [IMG]

    Can you let me know

I've not bought any brass before as most of the things I've seen you can get a plastic one which is as good for cheaper.....not the case with one of these babies :D

    All the best

You're not kiddins about not finding one of these in plastic. I want to get $250.00 for it. I think I got it at the price I did because no one on the sest coast (including me) has ever seen one, and I also have a significant chunk of change in it for the re-working. If you want I can email you some pics of it.

How about posting a couple of pics here so we can all see it? Probably few people have see one, or have no idea of what one looks like. OK? Please?

Ok, I'll have to see if I can convince the @home or attbi or whatever the heck they are calling themselves this week server to work. I may also need a hand with the posting. Can I use Html or do I have to learn UBB code?

    Watash,
I decided to pass on the brass TR6 engines because the prototype UP locos had several modifications done to them by the railroad which I want to incorporate. I actually picked up a Athearn SW7 Cow & Calf set which can be modified much easier than the brass models.

Ok, here goes, maybe. I hope this works. It's been a while since I had to fight with a UNIX server and I'd forgotten how tempermental they are. I apologize for the lousy pic, but all I have here at the moment is my webcam. I'll try to get some nicer ones with the Mavica next time I can borrow it.
