Open slats being such an important spotting feature, I believe your idea would have been a good one for their consideration.
I got two with sound and a 4-pack no sound. The sound part is quite nice and it does make an effect on the layout. People at the club have been very surprised and curious. These are pretty good runners and properly weighted (including the non-sound). However I fully agree with the previous comments that not having see-through slats for a stock car is just a total disappointment. The non-sound obviously share the same body as the sound-equipped, though nothing to hide inside. I got cheaper stock cars that look better.
