Ex-N&W SD40-2 6189 and two slugs- the Brosnan Yard hump power.

Two SW1500s and an MP15 with a cut of cars fresh from the hump yard, ready to shove it into the forwarding yard. Ex- CofG coal tower in background.

    Ex- N&W GP40 1358, mated with ex-SOU GP38-2. Both are high-nose engines.

Better shot of the 1358's mate, the 5119.

That's a pretty good variety of yard power. Thanks for sharing.

I gather those are ex-RSD-12 slugs refitted with EMD trucks... but were they Conrail MT-6s or N&W RP-A6s?

The two slugs in the picture are RPU6s, rebuilt from CR MT-6s.

NS has rebuilt ALL of the the former N&W last order SD40-2s into hump masters (SD40-2m) or SD38-2s (only one though). These were the newest SD40-2s on the roster.

I was very fortunate to have shot this mother-slug set, as it usually labors on the hump deep within Brosnan, and out of (legal) reach of the railfan's camera. As others have said, NS is bullish on trespassers. ABout the only two good places to shoot action in & out of Brosnan yard is at the north end next to a power substation, and the south end next to the wastewater treatment plant (or on the overpass seen in the pictures- plenty of room to get up there & shoot, but some idjit thinks you're a suicide case, and here comes Macon's finest,,,,,,)
