Brown joins WSP | PB in safety role

    Long-time transportation system safety engineer Louis J. Brown has been named a senior engineering manager in the Washington, D.C. office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, serving as a principal safety consultant supporting the firm’s transit and rail practice.

    Brown has more than 43 years of transportation management and engineering expertise. He will provide client services relating to all aspects of safety and security engineering for transit and rail operations. In addition, he will serve as Deputy Safety Engineer for the Maryland Transit Administration’s Purple Line, a 16-mile light rail line that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County.

    Before joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Brown was WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority) Acting Chief Safety Officer, with responsibility for the direction, oversight, development and implementation of a system safety program.

    A licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, Brown earned a master’s degree in aviation management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University. He is a member of the System Safety Society and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
