Almost done: I still need to ballast the track. Since this picture was taken, I added some graffiti to the wall in the front. I will be placing an electrical box in the back near the rocks. Look under the bridge. The "water" is reflecting and has ripples. A holder will be put on the back to hold 8 1/2" x 11" pictures for a background. The pictures will be changeable so I can do different looking scenes. This is coming out better than I thought it would. Just trying it out. N scale Atlas bridge cut and narrowed down. Used rust powders and then clear coated flat. Rokuhan 220 mm (2) with concrete ties. Rail edges painted light rust color. The rails have been left extending out to hold up a train so I can shoot pictures near the ends. I think I will paint the edge of the wood flat black.
Overall look: Ballasted track and put in electrical box. The picture in the back can be moved or changed for close ups. I'm going to have to fill in the crack between the rocks. I will fill with talus. Electrical box shown. Graffiti!
David...hey nice job.....uummmm, you did a great job on the diorama but then you switched gears and took a closeup of your big boy so you play with editing software? I wanna see the Looooong shot so I can see the diorama. sheeesh...producers....go figure..... just kidding . Keep playing and building ...HAVE FUN.
This has been a great project to watch as you progressed to completion. I really enjoyed your use of inexpensive/free building materials. In your last photos, you cannot tell that those are paper mache rocks, and the overall results are amazing. I wouldn't have thought to use paper mache, however the surface looks far more complex and scale accurate than what I have seen with hydrocal. Proof that this doesn't have to be an expensive hobby, unless you count that Big Boy.
