A standing ovation for ya right here. The aluminum effect looks perfect from what I can see, and you have every right to feel proud of what you've done. As for the ending, well, who knows maybe we'll see an addendum to this post down the distant road with two or three more of these lashed up along with a video roll-by?. (y)

I'm glad you were able to share this journey with us and I look forward to the next one when you get your next inspiration!

    Cheers -Mike

I have seen many differing hues of BN's green. Some new, some weathered. But here I have to agree it is a bit on the dark side. Not to detract at all from he great work you've done with this project! (y)

I'll echo Tom's comments here and say you've really done a fantastic job with this model. Thanks for sharing the design and build process with us.

When I first started drawing CAD for 3D printing in 2015 this is one of the prototype cars I was interested in drawing. I ran down every lead I could to get some detailed information on it but only ever scratched the surface so I moved on to other subjects.

I know from the beginning of just the research phase this project took some tenacity and a willingness to just jump right in and do it. Not giving up, developing the required skills, identifying and solving problems you kept pushing through. All along the way, from designing the articulation joint and the Uni-truck, through iterating the unloading gates and printing the models yourself you have grown your skills and honed your craft and the result is this tremendous model. The best part is the next one of these is going to be a whole lot easier to build.

Congratulations. I can't wait to see what you take on next.

The real ones were never actually Cascade Green, it was more of a lime shade. I hadn't even opened the Tru-Color paint before I started, so I never actually saw what it looked like until it was on the model. I found the Tru-color paint to be susceptible to base and primer color changes, so it's a bit inconsistent where the Alclad overspray was before the green was sprayed over it.

You can see the color difference here between the Trough Train and a regular BN locomotive: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=977754

If I do a repaint, I will experiment with some custom colors. I am thinking about mixing BN green with Illinois Terminal green to get a lighter color.
