This old girl was in my consist on Q574 to Cincinnati. I really need to start taking my camera with me to work. This was taken with my cell phone.
She is in great running condition as far as I can tell. I just had her shut down for fuel conservation.
Steve: The guys in Owensboro were really giving her some bad reviews! "Piece of junk" is what they were saying. Of course they had 4617 and unrebuilt GP40 6783 for power that day so I'm sure both have seen their better days!! Nonetheless, its good to see her out and about. The light blue paint that CSX patched on the cab sides some years ago has now weathered down a tad and isn't nearly as noticeable as they once were. No sign of the 6783? Chad
Chad, sometimes you get a different perspective when you actually have to work with older equipment and all of their little quirks. Those guys were probably just used to our nice new ES44DC's or something of the sort. I guess it is a little like having a classic car versus having a brand new Lexus. Only real car guys will appreciate all the things about the classics.
Jim, She is in Cincy for a 92 day inspection and will head back down to Alabama to run some work trains from what I heard.
