CBQ C&S help

    i also posted this in the BN section i model early 1980 BN f's my fav,6 axle u boats ect ect what i need to know is did ANY # digit C&S units las with their C&S lettering into mid to late 1980 as i want to model some of the road units in the 900 series just want to make sure i keeping time period correct for the most part thanks on any help you can offer

    Not by the mid 1980's. Within ten years of the merger in March on 1970, all of the locomotives were renumbered and repainted. By 1980, BN was working on Frisco.

    Off the top of my head I think all the C&S sub lettered units were renumbered around 1980 to fit in the BN better. There were units still running around though with C&S sub letters though for quite a while.

    If you go back ten years, you could model some of the C&S SD40's. Most wore the CB&Q scheme and kept their numbers until 1974. The early to mid 1970's was a cool era for the then new BN.

    I can not find any pic's that show a C&S (BN) locomotive with a 3 didget number after 1978. All of the 1979 or later pic's have a 4 didget BN compatible number.

    thanks all that helps i may have to change my modeling date to 1978-early 1980 i don't know but to see a u-boat or an sd45 with a 3 digit number is cool so thanks all that is what makes this sit so greta all the help
