This is my only one. I understand it is privately owned, and parked at the local rail museum. DRG 01469: I always thought it was interesting that their cab numbers started with a zero.
Here you go Hemi: D&RGW 01511 in Silverton, CO paired up with ATSF 999001 D&RGW 01461 in Eagle, CO Rio Grande 0586 - Silver Plume, CO Ben
Not quite mine, but a DRGW caboose anyway! Need to get pics I have from other computer. Rio Grande 01474, being helped by Rio Grande 3611 Neal R Miller photo, 1955/6?
I got to ride 0503 on a work train the night before the season started on the C&TS in 1990. I had worked wth the crew the whole day lettering several cars and painting the 'toilet seat' on the 489 (she had had major off season work). Right about 1730hrs the CMO John Bush walked up to me and said they were taking the 489 and some cars of ballast (cinders) up to Cumbres to be sure 'she' was ready for opening day the next morning. Then with that cocky smile that is so John he said, "You're coming right?" It was a full moon weekend and probably the longest 3-4 hours of bliss I have ever experienced. Thanks again John.
Not sure, at this time, where this is. I'll have to check with Neal about it, and see if he recalls where it was shot. I just borrowed the photos so I could scan to computer, then returned when I was done.
I hate to be a rivet counter, but 01511 should be an extended-vision caboose... It is Grande, at least in paint! I saw these in Silverton, but I dunno who owns them, and what they are used for.... Interestingly, there's no standard-gauge line for 200+ miles from Silverton....
Here are a couple more cabooses. The first is of #0505 in Durango, CO, August 1969. The second is of #01500 in Sparks, NV, August 1993 Dan
