Just saw, via Facebook feed, from a friend, that Caboose in
Denver has permanently closed and store has For Sale sign on it.
Can NOT confirm, or deny this. Based on what folks that live close
to the store have stated. If I had gas for truck, I’d head by over the
weekend to confirm and maybe grab a quick photo as proof!
    Would be a shame.

Hasn't Caboose Hobbies closed down before and reopened? I thought that happened a few years ago. There looks to be some other threads online about Caboose going out of business at the beginning of the coronavirus episode, so I would not be surprised if the Facebook guys were correct.

Does Caboose even have a website? The first two Google results are the Facebook page and the Visit Colorado tourism website.

I was in contact with them back in early August. At that time, they supposedly had a new web site under construction.

Anyone have a way to actually contact someone from the store? I have two consignment items I need to get back.

My original contact was Patrick Tillery. Does anyone have a way of getting in contact with him?

Ouch, I hope you get them back. Many moons ago, I lost a pair of Atlas engines once that were at a shop for repair when it closed without notice.

Have you tried the general phone number? Surely they are not allowed to keep those locomotives.

I called in November and left a message. Calls now just go to a full inbox.

I just purchased some Z scale from them a couple of weeks ago. No mention of closing.

Guess I lucked out in getting refund for my Kato Bush 4141 SD70ACe.
As well as the Kato turntable extension feeders. With help here, I found
the locomotive elsewhere, for about $75 less! Was hoping to get down
and get detail photos of the 01416 caboose outside!
Would get my N Scale magazines there as well. Now, I’ve got reason
    to subscribe I think!
    Oh well.......

I went by the new store. It was ok, but I found the staff not as friendly as the original store. I guess they just seemed a bit detached, not saying they were rude or anything. They also had far less materials and so I found little of interest to me. I love certain brands of paint such as Humbrol and they did not carry it anymore. When I asked about it they had no clue what it was.

Sorry to see them go, hard to compete with the internet and cheaper trains online.

I did ask a local art supply store about humbrol since I could not find it anywhere locally. They say they will begin stocking it and see how it sells.

I regularly watch the monthly Ken Patterson program on youtube. Caboose Hobbies is shown as a sponsor of the program and was so indicated in the December issue which came out just last week.

It's really sad to see so many small businesses of all kinds closing down. Every time I venture out I see another in my area. My area may be worse than most because of the high rents. Each of these businesses was someones dream and livelihood.

There have been at least two, within a 500 foot radius of my residence. :( Rents for business footage and residences have skyrocketed here, well beyond the ability of earning power in this vicinity. :(

Rumor has it that the D&RGW caboose is going to the CRRM in Golden.

Although Iowa Scaled Engineering won't be crying too many tears going by what they posted on their front page.

Iowa Scaled Engineering is beasting on that one, and I respect them for it. How can anyone sell another company's product and not pay their supplier? Iowa Scaled introduced a pretty groundbreaking product, and Caboose seems to have profited off it. In theory, they stole the throttles by not returning the invoice.

The model railroader community is pretty small, and controversy is relatively uncommon. Over the years, it seems Caboose has had its fair share. Being a smaller company, Iowa Scaled Engineering probably won't get the attention it deserves. It reminds me of Rapido and the Big Dawg Originals scandal. Even though both they and Iowa Scaled probably warrant court cases, the companies don't have enough money to pay lawyers. It's disappointing that justice comes with a bill.
