Andy- That sounds about right. I know that when I was working at PC&F, they were painted with yellow. Those were BN and Milw cabooses in 1975. I just couldn't remember if the repainting had started before the electrification ended in Spring of 1974. Boxcab E50

Thats what I thought also. The older ones built before 1973 had to be painted and the new ones came from the factory that way.
NS is using old N&W as well as repainted cabooses, all red. This is the first I ever heard of the ends having to be yellow. This is from a year or 2 back.
