We can't let the Lima guys have all the fun, can we??:tb-tongue: American Locomotive Company built some of the biggest and baddest brutes ever constructed, and I wanna see some Alco power! The only steam on my roster so far is an L-96 Challenger, D&RGW 3802:
A few TB members might recognize this product of Schenectady. An interesting quote about these engines on this railroad; " This concentration of fifty 4-8-4's, operating between two terminals only 134 miles apart, was without parallel anywhere on earth." Ken, I have some pics of BIG NP power. Since NP got the first 4-8-4s and Lackawanna got the second group, I can assume this is an ALCO. Not sure about the other one (???)
Awesome, Greg! More pics of the big articulated, please? The cross compound air pumps make the engine look brutish. Very nice!
Grey One, Lets see those PA's. OC Engineer, I'll try and post some more pics of the MT-1 here in the next few days. The loco is in need of new lettering and a weathering job to get her to 1950's standards but otherwise it is a beautiful loco.
Love the NP pictures Greg!! The A-5 Northern is actually a Baldwin product of 1943 but the Z-6 is an authentic ALCO of 1936. Here is another ALCO. The last class of steam delivered to the NP in 1944, the Z-8.
