I was looking at a photo of a CB&Q caboose and it occured to me that the ends provided by atlas are totlay incorrect, I started to chop up the ends and then I got to wondering about the avaliability of a etched cabose end correct for CB&Q. Hopefully there will be something turn up... :tb-confused:
I presume you are talking about the Atlas extended vision caboose. Their car is a Reading prototype, IIRC, and is unlike the CB&Q NE13 in a number of ways. The window arrangement, cupola height and roof style among them. No kit for a CB&Q Waycar has been made. A laser cut wood or etched brass car for the wood ones would be easy; the problem is coming up with trucks. The Bachmann "Old-Timer" passenger car trucks are close, but have the wrong style journal pedestals and are not widely available except by buying an entire car. The NE10 Steel Waycar is a possibility but it is not as "popular". The NE12 Streamlined Cupola Waycar would be nice but would have to be an etched metal kit; forming the roof and cupola might be a challenge. The NE13 would be doable as an etched metal kit. My personal choice would be one (or all) of the wood cars, but I haven't figured out how to get around the problem of the No.7 trucks. Charlie Vlk
M'Kay! Thanks for the info. I didn't know that about the windows, etc. guess if I want to be prototypical I have to make a "correct" caboose myself...
WAAAA....oops....sorry....my eyes started to glaze over there for a second. My version of an "accurate" CB&Q caboose would be one with "CB&Q" printed on the side. :tb-ooh: I need to learn more about cabooses.
