Sadly, today 2 events happened on BNSF's Bakersfeild Subdivision: 1. Dash 8-32BWH CDTX/AMTK #2052 has had a Major Unit Faliure today. I saw this unit today leading Amtrak #713 San Joaquin just this morning. 2. A Amtrak San Joaquin (Looks like the 714) has had some sort of problem before reaching Bakersfeild. If this was the 714, I also had seen this train and P42DC 113 was in charge of pushing. The intresting thing about today's 714 was that it had 5 car's, 5 cars are not a strange site down here as that morning #2052 was leading 5 cars for the 713, but here a P42 was in charge. Rarely do they do this. A unknow date is for Dash 8-32BWH CDTX/AMTK #2052 CDTX/AMTK #2052 to return to dervice. These units are always nice to see because of they're great K5LA's and other sounds. There are only two units ( Dash 8-32BWH's) that run the San Joaquin's and Capital's, #2052 and 2051. Strangly 2051 has been missing from service for sometime. Now Amtrak is bringing in more P42's and F59's to make up the engine short.
Is that the one with the blue number boards??? Not a big fan of Amtrak, but I do like the blue, it adds a little personality.
I saw both units a couple weeks ago on my way back from Yosemite. What happened to the third Pepsi Can?
I don't recall Amtrak having a Pepsi can down here. Last I saw one down here was in 03 I belive, and it was 503 or 505. 505 may not have been repainted yet, as it still is running the Amfleets for the Fun Train. Also, as of Augest 17th 2052 was back up and running. Looks like it was only a one night fix for her. 2051 is in the mid-west getting her interior overhauled. And as for your question sp4009, I don't recall the CDTX Dash-8's down here in the Amcal fleet having blue number boards. Alex-Saw 503 2 weeks ago on #14
"Sadly, today 2 events happened on BNSF's Bakersfeild Subdivision" I'm not sure how thats SAD ? SAD is when someone is hurt or killed, (actully tragic). An locomotive failure is a everyday occurance. its part of the business and there is nothing sad about it. ( just a pain ).
To answer your question, the last Pepsi can down here was 511. I only stated that these events were sad because I enjoy seeing CDTX 2052, and the Amcal fleet down here had been doing well with almost no problems. But then to have two Amtraks go down on the same day, it was abit dissapointing Mabye I just choose the wroung word to use, Alex
