This is going to sound crazy but I am thinking it could be done. Those of you familiar with this steam engine know the drive is in the tender. I want to put a new engine in this and I am thinking make it DCC. I was looking for something like a diesel switcher that I could take the body off of and just fit the tender over. This would give me a much better running engine and provide smoke and lights without having to run the steamer at full throttle to warm up the smoke box. I am not concerned with the looks of the tender as far as wheels and "historic" accuracy. I really just want a good running smoking engine to go around my Christmas layout. Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Thanks
