I found this old picture of my home town, Little Falls, NY, taken before the rerouting of the Gulf Curve tracks, so it was prior to 1947. The NYCS depot is hardly visible off in the distance to the left of the tracks. A Hudson is pulling a passenger train, number unknown, westbound, passing over the River Road. That trestle on the right is on the Little Falls-Dolgeville branch, and I walked across it (terrified) many times as a kid. It was removed at about the time the curve work was done. That is state route 5 to the far right, which fooled many truck drivers, as it veered sharply to the right as it entered town. Many trucks rolled over there, and those houses sitting right at the corner were destroyed when a gasoline tanker rolled and burned, taking the houses with it. I don't remember the year. Man, I am getting old.
Jim, that's a wonderful photo. I love photos of The Central showing its four-track greatness from GCT to Buffalo.
