The Challenger on Saturday was great watched it pull 50 + cars all day. Did not make it over to see the long train Sunday wish I had but being a steam guy the Challenger was enough to make me happy. Great layout and display they always had people around it even with the low turnout for the show. rich RSLaserKits Contact Us For High Quality Laser Cut Kits For Model Railroaders
Here comes part 3. http://vimeo.com/18225621 Almost 3 minutes of one train. In the other video you saw 88 cars. Well we added 2 more cars so you will see 90 cars (and the UP caboose) behind the 5 engines. About 21.5 feet of train. Much closer view of those straining couplers.
Musical selection? I noticed that, too. I wonder if, instead of "Cast Your Fate To The Wind", the musical selection should have been "I Keep Holding On To Yesterday". ;-)
Yet again another video. Even on the short trains, you can see some couplers "hanging" on the CN train. Music from Joe Walsh. http://vimeo.com/18270122
(I do love Pink Floyd's music as well, at least from the era when Roger Waters was still in the band...) About that very interresting event: 5 SD70M running a 88-car train: what are the layout's caracteristics? Especially the max slope? Completely flat or are there grades to deal with? It reminds me my initial project was running such trains on a 2.5% grade, that would likely have driven to coupler issues. Dom
Hi Dom I wish I took pic's but didn't we had all kinds of grades on that setup we needed to use blocks to try and get it leveled this past Summer we had the same area and had no blocks for that show.......
