    Hi,

My father recently passed and left me his collection. Unfortunately, many of the locos and rolling stock are covered with thick dust/dirt.

Any recommendations on removal without taking off the decals or paint?

    Regards,

Warm water and dish detergent, soaking it with a sponge...dabbing, that it. Keep wetting until the stuff seems to want to lift, and then switch to an artists brush with soft clean bristles and gently swirl the bristles all around the surfaces. Rinse carefully with clean water, and let air dry. That should work.

Be Sure to remove the body from the chassis to keep water out of the motor and any other electrical parts.
I use the above method for cleaning.

Are you sure it's Dirt and not weathering?
