I could start a lottery on CN derailments here in BC. We had another one yesterday, Thursday, Dec 15, 2005. Lets see there were two last week, and about 10 derailments before that. Needless to say, there are some upset British Columbians over this issue. Some want the BC government to apply the pressure to CN since the government still owns the track.
Unfortunately, if this is done the same way we see it here in the States, nothing will happen. Until there's a major tragedy. Boxcab E50
CN's tactics of poor maintenance and cost cutting is beginning to catch up with it - as I predicted it would about 4 years ago here in this forum. CN has already been fined for a bridge problem that cost an engineer his life. In one of the derails, major pollution occurred in a river that has a major salmon run. As you can imagine, many are feeling that if BC Rail was still running its line, much of these derailments would not have happened.
