Just finishing some very cheap scenery.
I really do like to construct cardboard and paper and plaster of Paris tunnels and mountains.
Number one, Cardboard boxes abound. Everything comes to your home these days in a cardboard box.
Number two, Newspaper, (my wife reads it) comes to this house all the time.
Number three, plaster of Paris is pretty inexpensive and fun to slater and plop here and there.
So....scenery can be built rather inexpensively.
Painting.......This art escapes me. I try, but it always looks like it could have been done better by someone that knows how.
But, anyway, I do the best I can, like it or not.

Your scenery does not look at all bad! Remember that as your skills progress, you can always go back and re-do any place which does not make you happy. (y)

You have a good start on doing your own scenery. GOOD JOB!!
There are several books out there that can answer questions that you have. There is one book that has sort of become a HOW-TO guide for me:
How to Build Realistic Model Railroad Scenery 3rd Edition by Dave Frary This is a Kalmbach Brook. Available at your Local Hobby Shop or direct from Kalmbach. See https://kalmbachhobbystore.com/product/book/12216 I have used the old stand-by HARD SHELL Scenery for years. A little messy at times, but can be done CHEAP. I also got a BUSTED bag of Hydrocal, at my local drywall supply company, REAL CHEAP. Try some Hydrocal instead of plaster of paris. Stuff sets up like stone and is very easy to use.

Yes. Get a copy. The author is well known and very accomplished in multiple scales. He had a web site, but these days days is only on YouTube, Facebook, etc.
