Here's a pic I thought most of you might enjoy. I did not take the photo, (couldn't because I'm at the throttle). The photo clearly proves that a steam loco is a living, breathing thing ... you can see it's breath hanging in the air [ 15. November 2003, 19:15: Message edited by: Ironhorseman ]
Bill, that hogger knows how to please photographers. Having just experienced that, you did a great job. Nothing like steam in the cold weather.
Thanks gents .. I thought you guys might like that one .. I just have to learn how to enlarge the image. I'll work on it and re-post the pic
Fitz .. No, I'm ashamed to confess that I still have not been successful in getting the PrimeFilm scanner hooked up correctly. I used my Plustk Opticpro U12B flatbed to scan this one.
Now THATS a steam show!!!! Anymore Bill? Thats a good hand at the throttle for the engineer to make the photographers happy! And the viewers too!
I'll have to dig around the scrapbook John. I'll see what I can find that is a little out of the ordinary
Will do John 11-15-03 Here's a nice color photo of #19 leaving the Yreka depot in the cool, damp air of a Siskiyou County fall. I am the luckiest guy in the world .. or at least in northern California, to be the hogger of this locomotive on this nice little railroad. [ 15. Tiny - We won't start excursions again until May of 2004. Old #19 is sitting in the engine house all torn apart in preparation for new flue tubes, etc as mandated by the new FRA rules. Hopefully we'll have her running again at the begining of the season. Keep your eye on the YWRR website. That's the first place I'll put notification that she's up and running again.
Wow, Bill, those are great! That has to be snow I see on the ties in a couple of them. Both Pancho and Lefty put on great steam shows. And you ARE the luckiest guy in northern CA. Here is one from Sumpter Valley a few weeks ago at dawn. Nils Huxtable was with us and this is his kind of shot. I kinda like it. DUUUH. In my senility I realized I have already posted this on another forum here. Let's hear it for redundancy (and old age too). [ 16. November 2003, 23:20: Message edited by: fitz ]
Hip, hip hooray! I can think of other views I'd prefer to have never seen at all. This photo is one I could see many times. And smile with pleasure. Boxcab E50
Jim, None the less a beautifull shot! The dawn an the steam "show" are spectacular! Posted twice or not, still worth the viewing (And I may add, this is the first time I seen this shot!)
