Recently I saw a link to a 9 x 25mm speaker at DigiKey on one of the forums. I'm putting a LokSound decoder into a N scale DDA40X where there is room for a speaker that long so ordered a couple. I'm really happy with the 9 X 16mm speakers I've been using so decided to test the 9 x 22mm against one of those to see if the longer speaker was worth using since the room is there for one in the DDA40X.

I'm somewhat tone deaf so not a great person to evaluate sound and also it sounds a little different in real life vs. a YouTube video. To me the 9 x 16mm sounded a little crisper and louder. The difference in volume might of been the decoder trying to drive a larger speaker. With the LokSound decoder you have a lot of options for the volume for each sound along with the overall volume so there was plenty of room to increase the volume of the 9 X 25.

LokSound also now has the option to change the tone of the sounds (I haven't tried this yet). The low end bass to me sounded a little better with the 9 x 25 speaker but not much.

Since there is room I think I'll start with the 9 x 25 in the DDA40X and if not happy change it out for the smaller speaker.
