WARNING WILL ROBINSON!!! You might want to quite reading right here if you're not into counting rivets (or louvers) Not for the faint of heart when it comes to super detailing. All others may proceed.

I've been accussed of being a rivet counter but I think you'll see that I am, in fact, a certified louver counter. Observe my latest project, Milwaukee torpedo tube GP9 #208. Yes, I know Atlas just announced these in this very paint scheme. Since I had an undec shell and wanted to do this for some time, I thought I should try to finish mine before Atlas beat me to the punch.

The stock Atlas shell is a phase II GP9 and the Milwaukee TT GP9's had phase I car bodies. Close but no cigar! So I decided to change the louver pattern to duplicate the phase I body. I shaved off a set of louvers on both sides and also had to add a few more to get the correct pattern. I used louvers from Gold Metal Models (Sorry Craig, that's what I had on hand)

Oh yeah, and while I was at it I shaved off the grab irons and lift rings and added free standing grabs and new lift rings. Winterization hatch, windshield wipers, new horn, new soldered wire handrails (yeah I'm a glutton for punishment) and Z scale couplers round out the conversion on this ultimate N scale GP-9 project.

So I think this project officially crossed me over from rivet counter to louver counter. I CONFESS, I CONFESS!!!

Off his meds again he is.

Now Bill, step away from the work bench. That’s right. Now, put the xacto knife down. Yes, yes, it’s going to be ok. We will let you visit your little friends.

    Sweet.

Now just picture it with a pair of Rivarossi coaches and a 12-1 pullman converted to coach, all done up in the commuter scheme. I'm salivating already. = )

Time to train show, 2 months and counting... is your module ready?

    Merry Christmas!

Off his meds again he is.

That's never a problem, since in real life I'm a pharmacist!

    I like this game.

Ok, now I'm thinking about this train sitting at the North lead to Chicago Union Station. I'll sit back and wait. :computer:

We could have a Rondout versus New Lisbon race! I'll even give you a 3 year head start to even things out. ;)

    Bill, great coach!

Mind if I ask a couple of questions:

    1) What parts did you use for vestibules and for diaphragms?

    2) As a result, did you have to body-mount the couplers?

    3) Minimum radius that this would work for?

    Thx!
