I thought I could run more than one consist and maybe I can but don't know how. I use a Digitrax Super Chief. So far so good. However, I have a double track layout and need to run MU'ed locos on both tracks. How do I set up two separate consists? Or can I? Help please, Doc
You give each consist a number and then multiconsist your loco's into each consist. So if you want three loco's in each consist, give each consist a number, for example consist # 4 and consist # 6. Then put three loco's using their road numbers in consist #4 and three loco's in consist # 6. You can run each consist in several ways. You can control Consist #4 by calling up #4 as an address or you can call up an individual loco in the consist and the consist will run. The same goes for Consist #6. In each consist you can only control each loco's lighting by calling up the individual road number of the loco. You can't control any lighting of the indivdual loco's if you call up the consist number. Hope this helps... Stay cool and run steam....
With Digitrax there is no need to assign a consist number. You can if you want but it is really a waste of effort. On the right side of your throttle, assign the lead loco of your consist. On the left side of your throttle assign the next loco you want in your consist. Then MU the left side loco to the consist using the MU procedure (different for DT300 and DT400). Then assign another loco to the left side and repeat until all locos assigned to the consist. Then if you want to assign another consist just dispatch the first one and start over. The original consist will still remain MU'ed even after being dispatched. When you are finished making up this second consist, just select the lead locomotive of your original consist on the left side of your throttle and you will be running 2 consists on the same throttle at the same time. Thanks for all the help. Between you guys and the Digitrax forum I got excellent answers and information. I was having trouble understanding dispatching the first consist and then setting up a second. I have successfully dispatched the first, set up the second on the right throttle and moved the original one to the left throttle, thereby running two consists. Thanks to all, couldn't have done it without you.
I'm glad we could help. I use a Lenz 100 system so I give the consist a number which I call up to start operations. In each consist I have a DSX sound only decoder which acts like another loco, and three or four loco's in the consist depending on what I'm running at the time. Basically all DCC systems run the same except for slightly different nomenclature. Have fun.... Stay cool and run steam.....
