Hope nobody minds if I make a shameless plug for the 2011 Saint Louis - San Francisco Railway Historical and Modeling Society convention to be held in Springfield, MO at the former Frisco HQ building on Chestnut Expressway in Springfield on Saturday, September 17. There will be clinics, presentaions, an all-Frisco, all-the-time slide show, a swap meet of sorts at Underground Springfield, and a visit to Grant Park featuring newly-restored 4-8-4 4524. For the ladies, trips are planned to such places as the Laura Ingalls Wilder home and Branson Landing (I tried to have 'em include Bass Pro Shops for the missus, but no dice- sorry.... ). Plus, operations on Frisco layouts will be on tap on a first-come, first-serve basis. 25 bucks for the convention, goes up to $30 after Sept. 1. Go to the frisco.org website for more information.
