I have a Lionel set for my boys for around the tree with a side passing. Is there a way to make the manual switches power routing? I have 2 locomotives and it would make it loads easier.
That's two facing point switches. I believe you will have to gap the track somewhere on the siding if they are power routing. Also a gap on the main between the switches. Are the children old enough to understand it? I expect they would find it interesting. I certainly don't know how co convert the Lionel switches to power routing.
It's been a long time since my last experiences. This might depend upon what era the switches were made. Back in my time, I seem to recall a need for one rail to be insulated or there'd be a short. Seems like it was the rail on the frog side for each route? Boxcab E50
