We have a fun thread over on the prototype side of things in which everyone has been posting photos of railroad equipment consecutively numbered, starting with #1 to as high as they can go. Well why should we let them have all the fun!! Lets start counting with Models! My lowest numbered model is 7, so I'll wait till then, but does anyone want to start us off with #1? or perhaps even "0"?
Good idea. I had forgotten about the prototype thread. We can always use a decal if we need a number.
That would be interesting if someone were to model a sequential run of cars being transferred from a factory to the owning railroad. I saw a string of about 50 clean non-weathered, obviously new covered hoppers with all numbers included, though not in sequential order for some reason, at the rear of a CSX mixed-merchandise train. I have no memory of the reporting marks because it was about 10 years ago, but it was surprising to see.
Back in Nebraska there was a coal route to a power plant near where I lived. I remember seeing sequential coal hoppers all the time and assume such unit trains remain sequential straight from the factory for a long time since they all run the same routine. Come on, I know some of you have units numbered "1" out there! Who's gonna get #1 posted first??
I hold with #1 and 2 (and even 4) There's only one problem, finding the pictures. Wolfgang and 3: Wolfgang
Oops! Didn't Kato make a #6 Union Pacific SD45 in the renumber series? [edit] I just checked. That was #9.
Yay! We got #6! I have 7, 8, and 9, as well as a fake #10! My Ultimate 4-4-0 lettered TBC 10, celebrating 10 years of TrainBoard.com, pulls UP 9, CP 8, UP 7, and ATSF 999628. Since TBC 10 is a Photoshopped lettering, anyone who has a true #10, feel free to post. In fact, maybe we should make it a rule that anyone who missed their opportunity to post a # may do so, so long as it hasn't been more than say 20#s ago?
