Here are a few pictures of CP's brand new green goat, number 1700. Do you think anyone will make these in N scale? It would be hard to make them heavy enough to pull anything, there would be almost no room for weight! I don' think they are very nice looking, different, that's for sure. But I guess they use much less fuel.
Nice! Thanks for Sharing!' Hmm, no "Multi Mark"? ok, fine. I doubt it will be made, (except maybe as a shell), Pulling power would not be a big deal to me since it is mostly for yard work. I don't see using it for more thann 5 or 6 cars on level ground [ January 07, 2006, 10:29 AM: Message edited by: Grey One ]
Mike, Nice pics! I doubt that they'd be made in N Scale... that low hood leaves little room for motors, flywheels, and DCC board. Harold
...compared with what is available in Z scale nowadays - it should be possible ! what do we need for a kit ? an Atlas GP7/9, a maxxon or faulhaber 8mm motor, a Mark4Design shell, some detail parts from BLMA, some MicroKristalKlear, a lot of patience, some color and decals - voila ! (yes, I know, I know but I would like to have one as well...)
Actually, the carbody looks longer than an SW-8 or any one of the other Life Like SWs. The nose on the Green Goat could be a place to put some added weight. There are enough of these things running around now that someone will more than likely produce one.
Those are definately cool. I think the CP scheme looks the best of the ones I've seen. The factory Green Goat scheme would be the second. I'd buy a couple shells as well if someone produced one that would fit any of the available mechanisms. Thanks for posting the pics Mike!
If memory serves me correctly, these initial 2000DD (or DD2000, or something... I forget) versions are built on old GP7/9 frames and trucks. But the LL SW8/9 engines have a wider, and it seems a slightly higher hood. Still, it should be comparable. Yeah, well, there are alot of SW1500s out there, yet... So who knows what to expect. ---jps
Rail Power Tech's says GP9 or larger EMD platform or a B23-7 or larger GE platform. Caught this one after the show yesterday in Downtown Houston
