The hotel was on a peninsular, which it owned. There was a good long walk around the coastline through woods.

One of the side "streets"
During a walk around the city walls. During the war these provided much needed protection from the shelling from boats blockading the city. On one day alone, 600 shells fell on the city. Two thirds of buildings were damaged, but all have been fully restored, noticable by looking at the new roofs, and fresh mortar in the repaired areas.
