Repair Yard Cross Transfer Wasn't quite sure where to put this. My little series on Industries along the Rail got blown away with the new site layout. Here is a cool setup at a car repair yard in San Antonio. There is a multi-spur curved storage area in the lower part of the pictures. But the really neat aspect is the cross transfer at the storage area above. It took me a while to figure out how they got the cars into the yard. The transfer shuttle in just visible north of the transfer shed. I may try to get over to the yard and get some better pictures. I have seen the N-Scale cross transfer for sale, can't remember who puts it out. What a great way to stack up your collection in a limited space....just like the real thing.
Doubly cool that this is in a sprawling, newer area of railroad development, as opposed to something they built in 1892 in New York City that's now abandoned. You can use this on a modern pike, and it'll be realistic.
cool location. if you do get some on site pics, try to get some of that little blue switcher in the last photo
That would be a great focal point for a switching layout. Instead of moving cars in/out of a few industries. Move a bunch of cars in/out of a repair yard incl. a transfer table!
