Most CRS-20s looked like this: http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=102890 But then there's this one: http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=120181 Were there more like #609? Was this a different production phase?
It's my understanding that 609 was the first RS18 to be rebuilt which is why it has the different radiators. Aedave would probably know for sure.
Exactly Tyler, 609 was the test mule. The BCR Squamish shops found the rad section required to much fabrication. All the other rebuilds were done in the other style. The CRS20 cats and RS3 slugs are rapidly disappearing under CN control, less than half are still operating. Most of them are in Prince George. Rather sad considering most of them were rebuilt less than 15years ago, what a waste of my provincial tax dollars. What do you expect though, CN got rid of the Personel who knew how to repair and maintain the Cats. The major reason for the retirements is the Cats are not GMs so they are not the standard stuff.
