I'm wanting to model this CSX caboose . Where can I find more pictures of it? Thanks for the help. Don_csx
Don, That is a very interesting unit to model. I don't think I have ever seen any painted like that. I know I have a picture of an Operation Lifesaver or Operation Redblock caboose somewhere..... Harold
Don, May I ask what scale that you plan to model it????? If your looking to model it in HO scale Microscale makes the decals for it I believe.... I'll look, I have a CSX caboose decal set and i'll let you know if thats the caboose their for....
I'm modeling in HO scale. I have the decal set already. I'm just needing some more shots for detailing. Don_csx
Don, I believe you may have some trouble getting more pictures of that caboose. Being its on a website I know of that has it pictures but the only place I've ever seen it.. I have never seen a picture of one anywhere else, nor in real life... You may be playing hard ball modeling that one, not the caboose but the paint scheme in general.
Don - The caboose appears to have small rectangular windows on the sides of the bay windows, which would make it a regular C-27A (former B&O) caboose like the ones painted in the Operation Redblock/Lifesaver scheme. So you should be able to just use photos of the cabooses in that scheme to model this particular caboose - it's just painted differently. One thing that's unusual is that it retains the little marker light (lantern?) holders - the small box directly above the outboard end of the curved grab iron on the sides of the caboose (most visible in the yellow portion in your picture) and the single red marker light in the center of the roof ends. These have been removed on all the Op. RB/LS cabeese I've seen. I have a photo of a car in this scheme at home, but I'm about to head out of town for a couple weeks, so I'll have to scan it for you when I get back.
